Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I reach the Shop Tart?

A: You can reach The Shop Tart through email or by snail mail:

The Shop Tart

P.O. Box 5188

Columbia, South Carolina 29250

Q: How did the Shop Tart begin and why?

A: The Shop Tart was created by Anne Wolfe Postic. She and her husband are passionate about shopping locally owned business and they love Columbia. The Shop Tart’s blog is meant to humanize local business and let more people know what’s here. Anne also found that she was the person people called when they wanted to know where to eat, what to buy and how to score deals. Lastly, she hoped to make a career out of eating out and buying stuff.

Q: Does the Shop Tart get all of her clothes for free from the vendors she mentions?

A: Bwahahahaaaaaaa…no. In fact, she gets none of them for free. Her husband will testify to that. She would love free clothes. Please send them to the above address. She will thank you personally. So will her husband.

Q: Does the Shop Tart get free beauty services?

A: Occasionally. She has been offered products for review and will sometimes accept them. She does not guarantee a positive review. If she doesn’t like the service, she won’t mention the experience at all. She’s very southern that way. The Shop Tart doesn’t lie, but she is all about recommendations, not critiques. Unfortunately, she often likes the services so much she ends up going back for more. And has to pay for it, just like you.

Q: How about food? Does she get that for free?

A: Sadly for her, no. That’s why she and Mr. Shop Tart often split meals.

Q: Does the Shop Tart get paid to mention certain businesses, products or services?

A: No. The content of the posts is at her discretion. The only paid advertising on the site is in the right-side column and in a banner at the top of the site. Shop Tart sponsors are listed under the heading “The Shop Tart Loves…” and their entries in the Shop Tart’s Guide to Columbia include extra information. She does love them and so should you. They allow her to keep writing about all the best things to do in Columbia.

Q: But can I pay the Shop Tart to mention my business, product or service?

A: Sorry, but no. Editorial content is just that – editorial. The Shop Tart made that rule to keep things interesting for readers. More readers means more exposure for sponsors. Without readers, there is no exposure for sponsors. There are other good publications and websites out there who write positive reviews and include content for pay. The Shop Tart will be happy to recommend them.

Q: How do I become a Shop Tart sponsor?

A: Aren’t you sweet to ask? Please contact the Shop Tart and she will be glad to discuss her very reasonable ad prices and options with you.

Q: Does the Shop Tart accept goods or services in exchange for advertising on the site?

A: No.

Q: Does the Shop Tart accept products and services for review?

A: Absolutely. She does not promise a positive review, but she won’t mention it if she doesn’t like it. Please check the contact page for her mailing address if you wish to mail a product or contact her by e-mail if you would like her to review a service.

Q: How can I be added to the Shop Tart’s Guide to Columbia?

A: Just email the Shop Tart the name of your business and the address. Any pertinent business can be listed by name and address for free. Sponsors get enhanced entries in the Store Guide. Contact the Shop Tart if you are interested.

Q: How can I have something added to the Shop Tart’s Calendar?

A. Just email the details. Every event will be considered and included as space allows. There is no charge for being included in the calendar. Thank you!

Q: Is the Shop Tart hiring?

A: No, but please send your resume. One of these days, it’ll happen.

Q: I want to be the Shop Tart in my hometown.

A: Either do it yourself (with your own logo and style of course!) or contact the Shop Tart if you want to do things her way and she will get you started.

Q: Is the Shop Tart available for speaking engagements?

A: Absolutely, and she loves doing them.

Q: I’d like to advertise my non-profit on the Shop Tart. Is that free?

A: No, but non-profits are not required to sign three-month contracts. The Shop Tart would love to work out a plan to help you advertise your event. She would love to receive a press release about it to consider it for inclusion in a post. Being included in a post is absolutely free.

Q: How can I offer a special deal to Shop Tart readers?

A: Aren’t you sweet? They love special discounts. Please email the details and your discount may be added to the exclusive discounts page.

Q: Is the Shop Tart’s life really that fabulous?

A: Not exactly. It is much exaggerated.
