Need some new stuff? Wish you had more money?

Well, the Shop Tart has an idea for you. She went to Revente the other day and saw about two hundred awesome things, including a sweet black silk dress that she bought. But you can’t have that one, so she won’t tempt you with a picture. You can have this black dress instead! Well, unless the Shop Tart goes back to buy it, too. 3.1 Phillip Lim, for a song.
You can also have this gorgeous textured strapless dress. And…if you promise to keep your jacket on all day long, you may even wear it to work, possibly with chunky brown sandals. At night, you will switch out the sandals for something gold and remove the jacket. Enjoy!
You may also enjoy the heck out of this cheetah slip dress by Tucker, which comes with its own fabric belt, but will look even more discotastic with a contrasting skinny belt you probably already have in your closet.
Dress it up with a vintage Escada for Neiman Marcus black silk jacket.
Or wear the dress under a skirt and call it a blouse with a built in slip. The Shop Tart has done this with several Tucker dresses and always feels clever.
Speaking of skirts, Yigal Azrouël’s gray one could take you on all sorts of dates this summer.
And speaking of dates. And summer parties! This vintage frock — yes, frock — is a show stopper. LOVE.
Now, please enjoy one more practical summer skirt before we totally party.
Now. Who likes to party? You do! And what do you want to wear? [Say it in the Oprah voice. Go ahead. Do it.] Rebecca TAY-LOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRR!
Or Tibi. Pretty!
Or maybe you like to party real classy. Revente has your back. Oscar de la Renta, just for you!
Speaking of Oscar, as any smart shopper knows, consignment shops are the best place to get reasonably priced, high-end designer classics. And Revente is among the best. Emilio Pucci…love, love, love.
It’s late on a Friday night. The Shop Tart has had a crazy week. This post is a little disjointed, and it’s about to be even more so. Wait for it…
Fab! Awesome! Excellent vintage day dress. Don’t you want to serve fresh squeezed lemonade to the neighborhood children while rocking this with a pair of Castañer espadrilles from Coplon’s? Then waltz inside and mix a few mai tais for your friends? Yes. Yes, you do.
In other news, someone with mad chic taste and a size 9 1/2 foot recently brought some fab shoes to Revente, including these silver cut-out Sigerson Morrison flats. Go get ‘em!
Speaking of shoes, the Shop Tart tried really hard to wear these Mayle pumps. They’re beautiful. They are either size 7 1/2 or 8. You can’t get Mayle shoes any more, because they were too fab to last. Lucky for you, these look terrible on the Shop Tart’s wide, wide Fred Flintstone style feet. So they’re all yours. *hmph* She will try to contain her jealousy.
And here is a random thing that you don’t even know you need. A semi-sheer, silk jacket from 3.1 Phillip Lim. The Shop Tart thought she didn’t need one. And she worried that the two digit price she paid for a similar one in one of VanJean’s killer sales was a waste. But that was before she wore it, repeatedly. The thing is so perfect for this time of year, when you can’t be burdened by even a cotton canvas jacket, but you need something to ward off the tiny little chill in the air at the end of the night. And you can ball it up on the seat beside you at a restaurant and it still looks good. And it’s just so cool. You’ll haul it around all summer, too, because it’s perfect for restaurants where the air is turned down low enough to suit dudes in suits. The Shop Tart has had hers for a while now — it travels well, works with dressy and casual looks and is fabulously comfortable. It may not look like much on the hanger, but trust.
What new thing do you want for your closet this summer? C’mon. There must be something. Bet Revente has it! Even this!

Welcome to Brittons!

As often as not, that’s how you’ll be greeted by Perry when you walk in the door of Brittons on Devine Street. With three growing sons, one of them now taller than his father and growing every day, the Shop Tart has walked in that door a lot, and she always feels welcome. On a recent weekday afternoon, the new, expanded shop was bustling when she and her son arrived. He needed pants, as he has outgrown all of his own and had worn his bathing suit to school, that very day. Fun Fact About Boy Children: They don’t demand much in the way of clothes, so if they want fancy pants, you can probably just go for it. Southern Tide is a southern brand. The shorts are well made and last a good long time. In fact, they may last forever, because the Shop Tart has yet to see a worn out pair.
While her son contemplated his choices, the Shop Tart took a quick tour through the ladies’ section. Don’t you love brights for spring?
Love, love, love this dress by Eileen Fischer. The bustle at the front is created with ties inside the dress, so you can wear it as a straight a-line, if you prefer. It also comes in white.
The Shop Tart also spotted this loose knit navy sweater, perfect for chilly spring evenings. It has all her favorite things: the color navy, a v-neck, slouchy coolness.
Speaking of slouchy coolness, shirt and tunic dresses are awesome. The Shop Tart would wear this one without a belt and with really high heels.
There was a plethora of pretty maxi dresses, always a summer favorite, dressed up or down.
As always, Britton’s jewelry shelves were stocked with pretty colors and serious bling.
Last, but not least, the Shop Tart feels sure it’s going to get really warm, really soon. She loves nothing more than spending her whole day in a bathing suit, but she likes to keep it classy with a cover-up. This striped number is great — you could throw on a pair of shorts if you had to go to the store to get more Mich Ultra.
How are you spending your summer? The Shop Tart has no particular plan, and her goal is to get the beach as much as possible and eat all the seafood.
