More tamago!

As you may or may not remember, the Shop Tart is kind of obsessed with tamago, and she wants to revisit every sushi joint she has ever loved — which is a lot of sushi joints — and try their tamago. It’s good to have hobbies! Last week, she hit Sakura for lunch.
Sakura for lunch is perfect for a few reasons.
- It’s open for lunch.
- The sushi is delicious, fresh and expertly prepared.
- It’s right behind Coplon’s, which makes it totally convenient.
The other day, the Shop Tart was with two of her children, so she skipped the shopping. (Is she the only person who schedules her kids’ doctor and dentist appointments right before lunch? That way, they get to play hooky a little longer and she gets to have a fun lunch with them!) Anyhow, the tamago was delicious, savory and creamy. Subtle and — according to the X-Man — a little sweet.
The X-man also ordered one of his favorites, chicken spaghetti. The Tank wanted a bento box and his mother cringed, because she was afraid it would be like $12 and she hates to say no to a six year old who wants to eat something relatively healthy. But! She was thrilled to see a bento box for — if she remembers correctly — around $7.50. Hooray!
She got miso soup with okra, a lovely treat she has only found at Sakura.
She also asked for oshinko, a bowl of deliciously refreshing pickled radish.
That was a little bowl of deliciousness right there. The Shop Tart enjoyed adding bits of it to other things on the table, like her escolar roll and the Tank’s leftover rice.
So, what food are you obsessed with these days? Isn’t it fun to compare different versions?
In other news, the Forest Acres Festival is coming up on Saturday! Fantastic family fun! Free carnival and pony rides, animal mascots, face painting, magic shows, separate games for little kids, food and drink available from your fave local restaurants, all kinds of performers, arts and crafts — what’s not to love? It’s a great way to spend the day, with or without kids. Best of all, it’s free! Come on out to the AC Flora athletic fields between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday.
You know what else is happening on Saturday? The Sensory Friendly Story Squad is performing at the Harbison Theatre.
What’s that all about? Learn more on the Harbison Theatre website.
