Why you should be a regular at your favorite restaurant.

Mr. Shop Tart loves Motor Supply. In addition to being his favorite place for lunch, it is also his favorite place for dinner. And owner Eddie Wales is his favorite tennis friend. So, Motor is pretty much his jam, and the Shop Tart gets to ride on his coattails. And those coattails were a good place to be on Monday, when Motor invited a bunch of people to hang out while they shot pics for their new website. The cocktails were (free!) flowing. This one had Hendrick’s gin. Hendrick’s gin is one of life’s greatest pleasures. (It’s like gin that doesn’t taste like gin, more like a delightful combination of rose petals and herbs.)
The Shop Tart enjoyed plenty of delicious cheese and charcuterie. There were dishes scattered throughout the room and most guests felt comfortable enough to eat after each other. After all, they’re all friends! Or, at the very least, have a dear mutual friend in Motor Supply. Watermelon and feta salad is one of the Shop Tart’s summer favorites.
So, you ready to make friends with Motor? Because there’s always a chance that the photos will be accidentally erased and they’ll have to do it again. A great way to befriend the restaurant and some of the awesome local farmers they support is to attend Summer Harvest Week. The week of locally delicious dinners and hobnobbing kicks off on June 11th with a Meet the Farmer Happy Hour, from 5:30 to 7 pm. Featured farms this year include a lot of your favorites.
- Doko Farm
- Freshly Grown Farms
- Trail Ridge Farms and Dairy
- City Roots Urban Farm
- Wil-Moore Farms
- Cottle Farms
- Cowassee Produce
- Gnome Grown Mushrooms
- Shady Grove Farms
- Floral and Hardy Farm
See you there! In addition to Summer Harvest Week, Motor also has a “Make Your Own Bacon” workshop planned for July 22nd. Doesn’t that sound like fun? See you there, too!

But not everybody can be a winner. Isn’t that sad? Bat maybe you can be a winner. The Shop Tart has two tickets to give away to the Central Carolina Community Foundation’s latest fun event, Eat, Drink and Give Local, coming up this Thursday, May 23rd, in the First Citizens Courtyard on Main Street. All the Shop Tart’s favorite things! She was there last year and had a blast. All the cool kids were there.
According to the press release, because it’s Monday morning and some of us are feeling lazy…
