Quick shout out.

And now, it is time for the Shop Tart’s yearly shout out to McConkey’s, because every so often, you need to get out of the kitchen at the beach. The Shop Tart took her three boys for lunch yesterday. The ATW (all the way!) nachos were a hit.
As was the ATW quesadilla.
The Shop Tart’s mahi tacos were excellent, the portion so enormous she still has half of it in the fridge.
The Tank, almost seven years old, really, really wanted fried shrimp. His mother hesitated at the cost (maybe $12.99?), which seemed reasonable, but pricey for a kid. He really wanted the shrimp, though, and she figured she could snag one and steal plenty of his house-made chips. Au contraire. She managed half a shrimp before he grabbed the other half from her hand, gobbling it himself. She did a get a few chips, but only after great protest. Seriously, this basket o’food was that good, worth every penny.
And now the Shop Tart has to get back to hanging with the Tank on the beach. Is it just her, or does he look a little like Morrissey?
Speaking of Morrissey…summer jams!

New lunch!

One of life’s great pleasures is eating alone in a restaurant. This is very hard to do in Columbia, especially if you — like the Shop Tart — have lived here more or less your entire life. But the other day, she did it. She ate all alone at an outside table at Taziki’s, the newest restaurant on Columbia’s Mediterranean scene. She had a Greek salad with salmon, made to order, rare, just like she likes it. It seemed a little pricey, until she saw the portion size. She rarely takes food home to eat later, but there was no way she could have eaten this whole thing. It was delicious. She was so engrossed in Words With Friends on her phone, she forgot to snap a picture, so you’ll have to imagine.
She did get a shot of Taziki’s gorgeous, delicious, perfect ice. She knows she is not alone in her passion for this crushed delicacy.
The other day, the Shop Tart wanted lunch with a friend. She also desperately needed/wanted/whatever to exercise. She didn’t have a lot of time, so suggested Taziki’s to her friend so she could pop into Jamie Scott Fitness for a Spin Core class (45 minutes of spin, 10 minutes of core, a darn fine sweat) before they ate.
Her friend agreed. Though the Shop Tart wanted that salmon salad again, because the wonderful memories lingered, she forced herself to order something different. The lemony Greek soup with a little rice and a ton of crazy tender shredded chicken was delicious. A side of cucumber, tomato and Feta salad hit the spot.
The outdoor dining option is lovely, but the inside is also bright and cheery. In general, the Shop Tart is a lazy bum who prefers to order from the table and doesn’t care for waiting in line, but the line isn’t too long, so there you go.
Have you eaten anything new recently? Do tell. Also, the Shop Tart is having trouble making herself exercise, even though she feels great when she does. Any tips to keep her motivated?
