Don’t you hate it when you go on vacation and don’t get a pedicure beforehand? Of course you do, because gross. If you don’t get one ahead of time, you are forced to pay double and waste precious vacation time dealing with your feet. The day before she left for New Orleans, as many things as she had to do, the Shop Tart knew she had to find time for a pedicure. And she had a gift certificate — Thanks, Heather! — to go see Arlenis at Essentials Salon on Main Street. The first thing that happened when she got there was Arlenis offered her a glass of wine. Which was lovely, since she was all kind of stressed out about finishing a hundred things before she left.

Funny how the pre-vacation pedicure can feel like vacation.

Essentials is sandwiched between the Kyle Michel Law Firm (Hey, Kyle!) and Frame of Mind. The pedicures happen upstairs in the loft, overlooking the hustle and bustle of Main Street. Arlenis works wonders with feet. The Shop Tart has no intention of showing you a before and after because, gross. In fact, she won’t even show you an after because, feet. Let it suffice to say that hers were in rough shape and look way better now. Arlenis took care of all the rough spots, gave the Shop Tart a lovely leg and foot scrub, and followed that with a heavenly massage. A leg and foot massage is the best way to relax without getting totally nude.

The best view you’ll get of the toes is the picture below, taken from the window of the Hotel Monteleone, here in New Orleans. (Toes barely visible in bottom right.)

NO

The Shop Tart will definitely be heading back to see Arlenis — her work is amazing, the view of Main Street from the chair is pretty awesome (you will see people you know wander by if you look long enough), and the location can’t be beat. Perhaps you will come join her for a glass of wine next time?

On that note, the Shop Tart has some eating, drinking, and rocking to do. Have a lovely weekend and go get your toes done!
