Great food, fab style…and a great deal.
The Shop Tart is a grown-up and she likes it that way. Although she herself doesn’t have a normal 9 to 5 sort of job, sometimes she likes to pretend. Meeting a friend with an actual job (or one who likes to pretend) after “work” is a very grown-up lady sort of thing to do, n’est-ce pas? The Shop Tart imagines herself to be one of those slightly brassy, husky-voiced women of days gone by, the first of the career gals, paving the way for future generations of young women to work side-by-side with men as equals. Mad Men is so fab.
The bar at Dianne’s on Devine is old-school and glamorous. In fact, before Dianne’s came Griff’s, the place to go for dinner and drinks back in the day. The Shop Tart remembers fondly a dinner there with her grandmother when she tried (and relished) escargot for the first time. She was around ten years old and has been a fan ever since.
The bartenders at Dianne’s know how to mix real drinks, though they’re more likely to be seen pouring Scotch, and they know how to chat without intruding. The communal snacks on the bar are always worth a look, from popcorn to this tray of olives, peanuts and party mix, enjoyed immensely on a recent visit.
Of course you don’t go to a bar hunting for men, but if you did happen to strike up a conversation with a gentleman at Dianne’s, you can assume he has a job. And is a grown-up. Or you can sit at the bar with a gal pal or two and shoot the breeze, ignoring all the admiring looks your way. Just don’t forget the husky laugh.
After a drink, the Shop Tart often wants dinner. After two drinks, she wants dinner and a ride home. In the former situation, she orders an appetizer at the bar, like delicious Goat Cheese Salad with Fried Shallots or Italian Egg Rolls*. In the latter situation, she calls her husband who calls a sitter and joins her for dinner (and gives her a safe ride home). And her husband can’t resist the menu at Dianne’s, filled with more delicious choices than any menu should rightfully be.
This month, if you print the coupon below, you can enjoy a delightful three course dinner at a delightful price and ten dollars off a bottle of wine. For just $19.95 a person, choose from several first courses, ten different entrees and three desserts. The Shop Tart recommends Antipasto Salad, followed by Seafood Stuffed Flounder and Cannoli for dessert. The gals in Mad Men always eat dessert.
Print out the coupon above (instructions below) and slip it in your purse for the next time you head to Dianne’s for a drink. When you stay for dinner, ask to move to a table in the restaurant, saunter to one of the small tables in the bar or stay right where you are and chat with the bartender or fellow bar patrons while you eat. So fab, dahling!
In other news…
- Belladea has a new shipment of Susana Monaco, as well as two sale racks full of items that must go (right into your closet!)
INSTRUCTIONS TO PRINT THE DIANNE’S COUPON:
Go to this page, click on “File” near the top left of the page, scroll down to “Print” and do what your computer tells you. Email the Shop Tart or ask your kid to help if you have trouble. Mwah!
* Italian sausage and fresh spinach wrapped in an egg roll with a blend of cheeses and served with marinara sauce. Yum.
