The Shop Tart knows there are a at least a few of you out there expecting little bundles of joy, because several ladies have written asking about maternity clothes in Columbia. Sadly, Glow closed (right after the birth of the Shop Tart’s third child - whew, that was close!) Rumor has it there are stores in Lexington and Aiken that specialize in maternity and the Shop Tart promises to investigate one of these days…because she knows from experience that nice clothes can make pregnancy much more fun! Pre-natal massages don’t hurt either. During her last pregnancy, she enjoyed more massages than she could count by Barbara Bryan, LMT, who specializes in pre-natal massage. She also indulged in massages from Tonic and Urban Nirvana, both divine!

Anyhow, all you expectant mothers need to get yourselves down to Tickled Pink. First of all, they do have a few cute maternity t-shirts and one dress, but that’s not what they’re all about. Caroline Glenn, owner and seamstress extraordinaire, makes the most glorious custom bedding you’ve ever seen…and custom clothing…and custom night light shades…and baby slings…oh, wait. You don’t know what a baby sling is? Only the hippest thing for hippy parents since, well, ever. And Caroline can make them, in fabrics to go with every outfit, like the gorgeous green one shown below, beautiful on the outside, soft and snuggly for baby on the inside. The Shop Tart found her sling invaluable for quick trips into shops when she didn’t want to bother with a stroller.

Tickled Pink is also the only place in town that carries the very stylish Dazzle Stroller by Silver Cross, all the rage for celebrity moms. Pictured below is just one example of the bedding available. When everything is custom made, the options are endless! You can see more of Caroline’s work on her photo page on Facebook.

Aren’t those diaper bags great? The Shop Tart is so glad there are more options out there for parents on the diaper bag front. She never understood the idea that baby bags should be covered in cartoon characters. After all, the baby doesn’t carry the bag. Love the patent leather, love the big letters, love the roominess - trés chic!

You know those vintage, mis-matched pillow cases your mother has in her hope chest? The ones your great grandmother (or great aunt or - hey, why not? - your great uncle) embroidered by hand? Caroline can make them into the most gorgeous dresses for your little girl. And they’re very reasonably priced, even less if you provide the pillow case. What a fabulous way to use an heirloom!

Now, would a post about babies be complete without a picture of an adorable baby? Absolutely not! So here you are, little Jack* in a custom outfit by Caroline. Awwww…

So, expectant mummies, the Shop Tart apologizes for not being able to tell you where to shop for clothes, but hopes this will tide you over. And while you’re at Tickled Pink, you can pop in next door at Pout and pick up some Mustela Maternity products!

Thanks for this post! I thought Tickled Pink was just girl stuff, and since I have a boy I never set foot in it. I can’t tell you how excited I am to hear that there’s an actual physical store nearby that sells slings. I bought the ones I have now online, and am looking for at least one more pretty one for the next baby.

I’d be interested to hear your take on Lula Bloom here in Aiken. They also have cute baby stuff in addition to maternity clothes. Let me know when you’ll be in town & I’ll buy you lunch!

Thanks - As a novice snapper I still feel swamped by the amount I need to learn about photography. Still, the more i read posts like this, the better a photographer i become. Thanks for moving me on a bit more :)
