Om…om…om… Please forgive the Shop Tart. She spent her weekend doing Yoga. There was a two day workshop in Charlotte, during which she stretched, chanted and sweat perspired glowed her way towards enlightenment. She only did the tiniest bit of shopping. And she simply must tell you about the cutest pair of Yoga shorts she found at City Yoga in Columbia recently. Enlightened or not, she is the Shop Tart, after all! The shorts, by Be Present, are knee length and have a loose tie belt to match. They come in a variety of colors, including purple, which is what she bought. So comfortable and so cute they don’t look like exercise clothes!
This week, call before you head out to eat or go shopping. A lot of restaurants and businesses close for a few days or the whole week to give their employees a vacation. The week of the Fourth of July is probably the slowest all year for retailers, so it’s a good time for a break. Unless the business or restaurant is at the beach. Then it’s their busiest week! If you’re in town, you can feel good about yourself for shopping. You’ll be doing your part to support retailers in their week of need! Aren’t you sweet?
And there are plenty of sales…
- Today is the last day of Strobler’s current sale: 20% off all regular priced merchandise, including custom orders!
- Just the Thing is still having a big summer sale. Go pick out all the fabulous accessories you need to complete your Fourth of July beach, pool or lake party look.
- Fortay will close at 4 pm on July 2nd and reopen on July 7th. They’re offering big discounts right now, 50%-75% off. They also just returned from market with loads of new accessories and jewelry.
- VanJean and Pout are closed and will reopen July 7th.
- Annabelle at LaRoque is offering 30% off everything in the store until July 4th!
- So that everyone has a chance, the One Hour Massage promotion at H2 and Tonic Day Spa
has been extended until July 5. You have just six more days to get a one hour
massage for only $39! The Shop Tart had one at H2, by Jenna, and it was
divine… - Most shoes at Kicks are 20% or 30% off…or more!
- All shoes at Sophie Shoes are 50% off.
Happy shopping!

Dear Shop Tart,
Where is the best place to buy fabulous, non-prescription sunglasses? I’m in the market…and its sunny outside!
Dear Smart Reader,
Isn’t it fun when something so good for you is so fabulous? Sunglasses protect the eyes and the delicate skin around them from sun damage. The Shop Tart predicts that the ongoing trend of big sunglasses will reduce crow’s feet by at least 37.2%. Hooray! There are plenty of options around town, whether you want to spend $20, $200, $2000 or anywhere in between.
For the Resort Girl, there are fabulous embellished shades by Lilly Pulitzer, available at Pink Sorbet, of course! The Shop Tart is crazy for the tortoise shell pair with jeweled butterflies.

Looking for something a little more European Spy style? Try Frame of Mind, where you’ll find styles by Blinde and ic! berlin. These are by Blinde and are a favorite of Mr. Shop Tart’s.
Here are some styles by the super chic ic! berlin:

Like many women, the Shop Tart feels sort of cranky when her sunglasses rest on her cheeks, leaving unsightly marks. Kate Spade glasses, also at Frame of Mind, do not rest on the cheeks. Hooray!

Frame of Mind carries other brands too, including Gucci, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent.
Folline Vision Center carries oodles of shades, including Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, Cartier and the Shop Tart’s favorite, Oliver Peoples. Pictured below are just a few of the Oliver Peoples available at Folline.

And if the Oliver Peoples aren’t pricey enough for you, Folline also carries a lot of styles by Cartier, some of which edge into the four digit price range. Ooh la la! They are gorgeous. Some of them have wooden stems and alligator leather accents. These are a divine luxury!

These Prada Aviators, newly arrived at Folline, were a Shop Tart favorite!

So, luxury is always good. Many of these sunglasses are investments. You’ll wear them for years and they’ll pull any outfit together. But maybe you’re the sort of girl who wants a pair to go with every sundress, bathing suit and outfit. If so, Just the Thing is the place for you. They have tons of sunglasses, fun, funky and fabulous, and each pair is only $15! Wheee!

In addition to the shops above, try these:
- For you sporty or surfer types, Salty’s and Halfmoon Outfitters have some great choices.
- Devine Eyes carries Costa Del Mar, Gucci, Valentino, Nautica, Paul Frank and others.
- 20!20 Vision carries sunglasses by Gucci, Coach and others.
In other news…
- Lourie’s is closing tomorrow for good. Last chance to get some really good deals. Everything is 55-85% off.
- Annabelle at LaRoque is offering 30% off everything in the store right now. She has a lot in stock right now, but it won’t last long!
- Kick off your weekend today with a wine tasting at Simply Savory, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Don’t forget to tell Rachael and Dave “Congratulations” on the birth of their baby!
Have a great weekend and happy shopping!

Fashion Exhibit and Lunch
Filed Under Eat and Drink, Home, Sale, Sip and Shop | Leave a Comment
McKissick Museum, on campus, is hosting an exhibit honoring the memory of Helen Hill. When she died, Helen was working on a film about the life and work of Florestine Kinchen, a dress maker from New Orleans. Both Helen’s and Florestine’s stories are incredibly moving and the exhibit is definitely worth a look. The dresses remind the Shop Tart of Marc Jacobs during the grunge era, a time near and dear to her heart (Oh, the college years!)
After visiting the museum, the Shop Tart and her companions (her mother, her mother’s friend, her mother’s friend’s daughter and her mother’s friend’s daughter’s daughter. Ladies who lunch!) went to the divine Devine Foods, one of the Shop Tart’s absolute favorites. As usual, she couldn’t quite order off the menu. Keith, her favorite waiter, doesn’t make her feel bad about it though, because he shares her preference: Greek Salad with Lamb Gyro meat on top. Delish! Two of her companions chose the Lamb Gyro, pictured below, and the other had the seafood special. Yum, yum and yum!
Although Keith is her favorite, the Shop Tart is open minded and would like to present a new waiter who you may notice is not exactly unattractive.
Dear Single Ladies, the Shop Tart was too discreet to ask, but she didn’t see a wedding ring. And he has a sense of humor, too. When asked if he was interested in having his picture taken without a shirt, he pointed out the Devine Foods logo on his t-shirt essential to promoting the restaurant. Oh well, she tried!
When you go to Devine Foods, don’t skip the dessert. The Shop Tart pretends she doesn’t eat carbs, but she does and they are delicious. The cookies are crispy and chewy all at once and she can’t resist! There’s always a case full of cakes, too. The Carrot Cake is famous (and worthy).
Devine Foods is always bustling, but you can usually get a table. Inside, the walls are exposed brick and you can dine to the sounds of the open kitchen. In fact, if you need to use the restroom, you’ll have to go through the kitchen to get to it. The Shop Tart has tried to peek at the action and pick up some cooking tips, but there’s so much going on back there!
Outside on the semi-enclosed (read, air conditioned!) porch, you’ll enjoy watching people come and go while you eat. Lunch is all about people watching, n’est-ce pas? And the mural is lovely!
When you’re finished eating, pop into Tullulah and LaRoque, right next door. The Shop Tart did, and picked up the cutest pair of pink, ruffly…ahem. Kristy, Stephanie and Annabelle regularly have Devine Foods for lunch, too.
In other news…
- Until Monday, June 30th, Strobler is offering 20% off all regularly priced merchandise, including custom orders. Now’s the time to redecorate!
- Frame of Mind is putting up a new artist’s work this evening and hosting a little wine and cheese thing from 5:30 to 8 pm. Donna Rozier will be there. Why not stop by after work?
Happy Shopping!

Look of the Week!
Filed Under Beauty, Home, Look of the Week, Sip and Shop | Leave a Comment
This week’s Look comes from Finleaf Gallery. Legare Tucker, mother of an absolutely adorable one year old girl, works with owner Peg Averyt. The Shop Tart stopped by the gallery today to find out more about FInleaf’s Dock Walk. Legare looked great in a bright, splashy top and crisp white pants, an absolute summer staple (VanJean still has a few different styles, by the way, and Belladea has white jeans by Paige - fab!) Her dressed up flip flops, leather with cork soles, were exactly what was needed to complete the summer look.
As usual, the Shop Tart had trouble pulling herself away from Finleaf, always full of gorgeous and interesting things. Today she was most distracted by the wide brimmed straw hats, perfect to protect her skin at the beach…or by the pool…or out shopping…
Finleaf’s Dock Walk, by the way, is something you shouldn’t miss! Owner Peg Averyt has issued an open invitation: All artists are invited to show their work and anyone who loves art can come take a look. These are the rules for artists:
- Any medium goes, paint, sculpture, textiles, whatever you choose.
- All work must be priced before you arrive.
- You get to keep any payment you receive for your work. That’s not a misprint. Peg is opening her lovely gallery and asking nothing in return. The Shop Tart loves a generous patron of local artists!
- Your work must be related to the ocean, boating or the sea shore.
- It’s best to arrive a few minutes before 6 pm, to give the staff time to place your work. All work will be displayed on Finleaf’s lovely front porch.
Call Finleaf (254-8327) if you have any questions. The Dock Walk is a great place to discover local artists. Wouldn’t you love a piece to remind you of summer when it gets colder? Stop by after work or on your way out to dinner and take a look!
In other news…
- The One Hour Massage promotion at H2 and Tonic Day Spa has been extended until July 5. You have 11 more days to get a one hour massage for only $39. The Shop Tart had one at H2, by Jenna, and it was divine…
- Hosting a drinks party for the Fourth? All Stirrings Products are 15% off through the end of the month at the Gourmet Shop! Stirrings products will instantly turn you into an expert bartender. Your friends will be amazed!

Dear Mother of the Bride or Groom…
Filed Under Clothes, Great deal, Sale | Leave a Comment
Yours is often a difficult fashion choice to make. It can be hard to focus on your dress when there are so many other things happening. Maybe you’re paying for a party over which you have less and less control. You might be getting orders from your dear child’s future in-laws about everything from what color to wear to the height of your shoes. Maybe everything leading up to the wedding has made you question the wisdom of your dear child’s choice in future spouse. Maybe you’re a shocked bystander to the family drama. Or maybe you’re the instigator. The Shop Tart has no way of knowing. She’ll spare you her mini-lectures on loving your children no matter what, letting the kids make their own choices and not worrying too much about the wedding because the marriage will last far longer than one day…blah, blah, blah. You’ve heard it all, haven’t you*?
The Shop Tart is the loving mother of three boys. They are wonderful boys. But because they are boys, she will likely never get to plan a wedding, have total access to any grandchildren resulting from that union or have to pay for a wedding. That third thing is the only bonus. She’s planning ahead, though. The Shop Tart plans to host the most elaborate rehearsal dinners in the history of South Carolina. She also has a small amount of money automatically withdrawn and added to an account at A.G. Edwards every month. That money will be used, quite simply, to bribe her daughters-in-law into letting her keep the grandkids.
“Hello, dear!” The Shop Tart will trill, when she shows up on the doorstep, unannounced. “I’m here to visit with the little ones! Yoohoo! Where are you, sweethearts?”
Her wise daughter-in-law, concerned for the wellbeing of her offspring and irritated by her presumptuous mother-in-law, will hesitate, smiling through gritted teeth. And this is where the Shop Tart proves her genius.
“Here you are, dear! A thousand dollars! Why don’t you go shopping? You have such wonderful taste. I know you’ll find something lovely. Or why not just spend a day at the spa? I’ll keep the kids.”
When the Shop Tart hands over the fistful of cash, her daughter-in-law’s jaw will relax and she’ll barely kiss the children goodbye before she peals out of the driveway, calling her best friend on her cell phone to brag about what a great mother-in-law she has. The Shop Tart is sure this is a good plan and only hopes her mutual funds will do well so she’ll have a lot of cash.
The Shop Tart also plans to be very sweet and docile throughout the wedding planning, in hopes that she’ll be allowed to choose her own dress. Although her children are too young to be married just yet, she would be thrilled if one of you lucky mothers of the bride or groom out there would snag one of these two dresses she adores. The first, from VanJean, is 3.1 by Phillip Lim and is featured in Lucky Magazine this month.

The dress is made of light weight silk and drapes beautifully, perfect for dancing the night away and hiding any little figure flaws developed during the wedding planning progress (from trying the cake, testing out dishes from the caterer and attending all those luncheons and parties in the couple’s honor!) And it could be worn with heels or flats, in case the couple has chosen to get married on the beach or somewhere else nature-y.
The second dress, also at VanJean, is by James Coviello and…drum roll…it’s 40% off right now! Also very forgiving, but beautifully cut so you don’t look like you’re wearing a mumu, this dress has a stunning jeweled border around the neckline. The low cut hasn’t escaped the Shop Tart’s notice, by the way. For the wedding, you might add a sheer black camisole underneath.
Whatever you wear, the Shop Tart wishes the happy couple well. And she knows you do, too (but if you want to have lunch and complain about that horrible woman/man/dog/child, she’ll be happy to join you and listen!)
In other news…
- Pink Sorbet is having a beach-tastic sale! 20% off all swim wear, cover-ups, flip-flops and beach bags.
- Just the Thing has…just the thing to complete any outfit, and lots of things on sale. The Shop Tart adores the thin gold bangles!
Happy Shopping!
* If you haven’t, please contact the Shop Tart. She’ll be happy to call you personally and deliver any lecture you need, chock full of advice. It’ll be fun!

Ahhh…the long, lazy days of summer! No school, balmy days by the pool or the ocean and plenty of popsicles. Oh, wait. You’re not ten years old? Neither is the Shop Tart, not by a long shot. As much as we would all love to spend the day lounging around trying to stay cool, most of us have work or children…or both. But we can still enjoy the extra daylight! It’s great to have something to look forward to every evening.
Monday night, call some friends and meet after work (or as soon as the babysitter gets there) at Gervais and Vine for a glass of wine and tapas, Spanish for "small bites". Those small bites are just perfect for hot weather, nice and light so you can try several things. Gervais and Vine often offers specials on Monday nights, so be sure to ask.
Make Tuesday night Movie and Yoga Night. From 5:45 to 7 pm, be at City Yoga for Gentle Yoga with Belinda. You’ll be out in plenty of time for the 8 pm showing of Snow Angels at the Nickelodeon. It’s a thriller (That’s hot!), set in a snowbound town (That’s cold!). You can stay cool, enjoying a movie at the only cinema in town that serves beer and wine. Another way to stay cool in the summer is to get out of the kitchen. Try the Hunter Gatherer for dinner. It’s close enough to the Nick to walk, even in this heat!
Wednesday night, Finleaf Gallery is the place to be, for owner Peg Averyt’s Dock Walk. Anyone can enter original work, using any medium. And here’s the catch: Each piece must be related to the ocean, boating or the sea shore. Sounds like a great way to escape to the beach without leaving town or risking a sun burn! The Dock Walk lasts from 6 to 8 pm. Call Finleaf (254-8327) for more information. After the Dock Walk, try nearby Baan Sawan for a delicious Thai meal. The Shop Tart recommends the Yum Salad with Chicken for a light summer meal.
Thursday night is a great night for wine, cheese, art and eyewear! Donna Rozier is Frame of Mind’s newest featured artist. She’ll be there Thursday night to celebrate the hanging of her work. And if you need another pair of shades, Frame of Mind has them, available with or without prescription lenses. Stop by the shop from 5:30 to 8 pm to see the new art!
As always, Simply Savory is hosting a Friday afternoon wine tasting, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. From there, the possibilities are endless…
There are still plenty of sales going on around town this week and they’re getting hotter. The Fourth of July is coming, so make sure you have everything you need:
- Swimsuit (and a cover up to match). VanJean and Pink Sorbet still have some left!
- Sunglasses. Try Frame of Mind, 20!20 Vision, or Pink Sorbet for the latest styles.
- Beach Bag. VanJean, Pink Sorbet, Gibson’s or Just the Thing, where they’re still having a big sale!
- Flip Flops or sandals. Sophie (still 50% off), Kicks (20-30% off. Love those Bernardos!), Halfmoon Outfitters (Havaiananas - in all the fashion magazines right now - in every color!), or Salty’s (not just for the kids!)
- A Fab Faux Tan. Try the Spa at H2, Tonic, Urban Nirvana or (for the do-it-yourselfers out there) St. Tropez tanning products from Pout.
- Sunscreen, lots of it. All of the above carry sunscreen that’s effective as well as gentle on the skin!
- A Hat, to protect your delicate skin. Finleaf has gorgeous straw hats.
- A Bikini Wax. Fun, fun, fun!
Stay cool and happy shopping!

Shopping for little boys who are cool.
Filed Under Babies and Children, Bags, Clothes, Home, Sale, Shoes | 1 Comment
As you may have noticed, the Shop Tart makes a sincere effort to shop locally-owned businesses whenever possible. There are a few things she can’t find in locally owned stores. Windex*, the kind of sport spray sunscreen her kids love, and cool clothes for little boys. After a boy in Columbia turns six or so, he’s stuck with the big chain stores until he’s old enough to fit into man-sized clothes. There are a couple of places to get dressy clothes for boys, although even they have a limited selection, but if you’re looking for rough and tumble school and play clothes, good luck. As far as the Shop Tart knows, there’s only one place in town to buy cool clothes for boys age six to man-size. Lucky for us all, it’s a great one, with a good selection and great service.
Salty’s is technically a “surf, skate, snowboard and wakeboard store,” depending on the season, of course. But, at least in this state, you can’t do those things in the nude, so they also sell clothes. They have plenty of board shorts, which can also be worn as bathing suits.
They also have t-shirts and rash guards in boys’ sizes. Salty’s has probably the biggest selection of kids’ shoes in town, including flip flops by Reef and Rainbow, Crocs and…remember these? Vans!

Salty’s has backpacks for school and one of the Shop Tart’s kids’ favorite birthday gifts for their friends, cool velcro wallets, very reasonably priced. What ten year old boy wouldn’t like a Quicksilver wallet with a surf sticker or two tucked inside?
And don’t forget the girls! Salty’s has plenty of fun, casual clothes and bathing suits for girls and small women. Don’t miss the fab selection of canvas bags, which make great purses for grown-ups, too!

A few times a year, they have sidewalk sales with incredible deals. If you happen to drive by one of those, make a u-turn. You’ll score some great stuff!
The Shop Tart’s children would like you to know that Salty’s has a super cool selection of skate stuff. The Shop Tart would like you to know how nice the staff is to her children whenever they go in to buy something small with their own money. It’s very touching to see her children being taken so seriously. Sniff.

And don’t forget the helmets, very well constructed, reasonably priced and cool enough that the kids might even wear them when you aren’t looking, especially if you get a sticker or five for decoration. The staff does a great job of convincing the younger guys that these helmets are super cool.
If you want your dear children to love you forever, why not take them to Salty’s and, afterwards, join the other hipsters at El Burrito for lunch? Just don’t embarrass them.
In other news…
- Pink Sorbet is having a great sale. Spend $200 on swimwear and get a beach bag or flip flops for half price. Sunglasses are 15% off and polos and tees are “buy one, get one half off.” No word on how long that sale will last, so take advantage of it soon!
- You only have ten more days to take advantage of promotions at the Spa at H2 and Tonic Day Spa. A one hour massage, regularly $70, is only $39 until the end of this month!
- Granger-Owings is having a two for one sale. It’s a great time to update your work wardrobe!
- The Gourmet Shop is offering 10% off all Nachtmann glassware for the rest of the month. Gorgeous stuff! They’re also offering 15% off all products from Stirrings, great mixers for martinis or Sangria.
- Don’t miss Simply Savory’s wine tasting today, hosted by Ben Arnold WInes, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.
Happy weekend shopping!
*Please don’t tell her to go to the health food store and get the healthy kind of spray cleaner. Although she’s glad to get laundry and dish detergent, floor cleaner and furniture polich there, she really likes her Windex, m’kay?

Dear Shop Tart…

Dear Shop Tart,
Love, love, love your blogs! Thanks for doing
them. It’s so much fun to read about what’s going on right here! I have a question you might be able to answer. I
need to get a baby gift for a good friend and usually go to my hometown, Spartanburg, to pick up my go-to gift, a starter add-a-pearl necklace. I had
one growing up and now have my necklace that’s really special because of who all
added to it. Do you know of any jewelry stores here that have
them? I’ve never shopped for nice jewelry here, but of course need to start! Thanks so much!!
P.S. Should have commented on this - but one of your
earlier posts has thrown me into a total college redux with The Connells!! Had
to pull out all the old discs and sing along!
Dear Reader,
The Shop Tart loves you, too (and loves a compliment!) And she bets your friends love you and always invite you to baby showers. An add-a-pearl necklace is a lovely baby gift! Of course she can answer your question. Gudmundson and Buyck is the place to go. They have the pearls on gold, silver, white gold or gold filled chains. Their prices vary and are based on the size of the pearls and type of chain.
Gudmundson and Buyck is one of the Shop Tart’s favorite places to go for baby gifts that will stand the test of time. They have plenty of sterling pieces, including rattles, traditional spoons and cups and some modern, fun pieces. In addition to the necklaces, they have bracelets and religious jewelry, including tiny gold crosses that make excellent Christening gifts.
And the baby stuff is nice and all, but why not let yourself get a little bit distracted by all their fab grown-up jewelry? The Shop Tart once bought herself a very mature diamond pendant there. maybe one day she’ll be mature enough to get the matching earrings… Gudmundson and Buyck is also known for doing excellent repair work.
By the way, the Shop Tart is thrilled to have led you down memory lane with the Connells. Maybe she’ll see you at the R.E.M. show in Atlanta this weekend!
After dropping by Gudmundson and Buyck today, the Shop Tart found herself with two more child-free hours, so she decided to meet a friend at one of her absolute favorite lunch spot’s, Miyo’s. Miyo’s is always a good choice, because it’s everywhere! Today she went to Miyo’s on Forest Drive, because it was closest to the next stop on her route, the Happy Bookseller. The menus are slightly different, but the food is equally divine at MCafe on Sumter Street, Miyo’s in Harbison and on Main Street and the newest member of the family, M Vista on Lady Street. The Shop Tart loves to create her own meal from Miyo’s long list of options. Today she had chicken, eggplant, snowpeas, bamboo shoots, tree ear mushrooms and asparagus with curry sauce. Delish!

Her friend, wearing a very cute green and white top, chose another Shop Tart favorite, the Shanghai Noodles. Wasn’t it sweet of her to wait patiently while her food was photographed?

The restaurant also has sushi and an excellent dinner menu. And excellent desserts, like chocolate ganache covered layer cake with strawberry filling and a luscious coconut cake. Did the Shop tart mention the great wine list? Although she doesn’t personally drink at lunch (her children’s teachers frown on it), it’s a great idea!
In other news…
- Tickled Pink is offering 25% off all in stock merchandise until the end of the week. Another great place to find a baby gift!
- Just the Thing’s summer sale just got hotter! Select spring and summer items are marked down as much as 50%.
- Today is the last day of M Boutique’s 20% off sale. Don’t miss it!
- Simply Savory’s wine tasting tomorrow (4:30 to 6:30 pm) is hosted by Ben Arnold Wines. Did you know Simply Savory offers a 15% discount on cases of wine? Most places only offer a 10% case discount.

Look of the Week!

The Shop Tart stopped in Kicks yesterday to check out their new sale prices (more on that later) and she was delighted to meet Meredith, a rising junior at USC who started working at Kicks in May. She’s majoring in advertising, with a minor in fashion merchandising. The Shop Tart loves to imagine what kind of store someone like Meredith might open one day… With her educational background and fabulous personal style, it would be great! Of course, the Shop Tart had to snap a picture…

Meredith is wearing a top from Round Robin, earrings from Handpicked, a bracelet from the Bohemian and shoes from Kicks (of course!) The white Francesco Biasia bag is also from Kicks and it just went on sale! It’s marked down from $548 to $438. Doesn’t that blue top look great with Meredith’s gorgeous red hair? The shoes were fabulous, metallic thong sandals, an absolute necessity this summer. Kicks still has plenty available and they’re all on sale!
Shoes at Kicks are now 20% and 30% off, including an extra 20% off sale shoes. Bags and hair accessories are also 20% off now. The ladies at Kicks are hard at work on a new website, too! They were taking pictures of gorgeous new jewelry when the Shop Tart was there. There were chunky gold bracelets and leather bracelets with metal accents that the Shop Tart just loved!
In other news…
- AnnaBelle at LaRoque was wearing her own newest design today, an extremely stylish version of the not-so-fabulous Infinite Dress (remember that one?) The Shop Tart predicts AnnaBelle’s version will be an instant hit. It can be worn four ways (two dresses, two skirts) and is reversible. You get to pick the two fabrics! You have to see it to believe it, so go on in and take a look!
- While you’re at LaRoque, don’t miss Kristy’s new shipment at Tullulah. It’s all about fun! The Shop Tart picked out an adorable pair of aqua…ahem… something or others for herself. Kristy also has a new bra by Le Mystère, with a plunging front and a teeny bit of push-up action, perfect for wearing with deep v-necks.
- Don’t forget…Emily at M Boutique is offering 20% off Spring and Summer and 10% off denim, today and tomorrow only!

South Carolina is so fabulous.
Filed Under Clothes, Home, Sale | Leave a Comment
Have you noticed that category on the right hand side of the page? The one that says "South Carolina Designers"? The Shop Tart gets really excited about that one, and you should, too. The more fabulousness we have in our state, the more there is to go around!
The most recent addition, Of the Young & the Restless, was featured in Domino Magazine this month. The Shop Tart has been Domino’s biggest fan since the day it hit the newsstand. Finally, a decorating magazine for real people, with real budgets, that’s filled with stylish ideas instead of pages and pages of icky "How-To’s," such as "Make Your Own Front Door Wreath…With Teddy Bears!" or "Crochet Your Own Country Charm Toilet Paper Cozy!" Ew, ew, and yuck! And Domino isn’t over styled either, just cool, modern and possible within the confines of a normal person’s budget. Not that they don’t feature plenty of fun, expensive things, because they do, but Domino makes it easy to translate fabulous style into real life.
Of the Young and the Restless, created by Southern ladies Pearce Williams and Courtney Loadholt, is a collection of seriously fabulous fabric. Each design starts with hand-painted imagery and they’re all hand-printed in the United States. The designs are funky and original, but would look great in any home, modern or traditional. The Shop Tart loves the wood grain prints like this one.

And wouldn’t the Birdhouse print be perfect as a nursery accent? It also comes in blue. "Birdhouse" would also look lovely in the Shop Tart’s dining room.

This design will be perfect for the dining room at the Shop Tart’s beach house, as soon as she wins the lottery and buys that beach house villa at the beach.

Thorny Rose might just have to go on a bench or chair in the Shop Tart’s entrance area. Red accents are such good feng shui!

Houndstooth, also available in pink, would look lovely in the Shop Tart’s fifties-themed private dressing room, the one on her beach villa, of course!

All of the fabrics are linen or a blend of linen and cotton, perfect for our balmy weather. And the Shop Tart is so proud to live in the same State as something so lovely!
If you know of any South Carolina designers (or if you are one!), please email the Shop Tart and let her know. She can’t wait until that list is a mile long!
In other news…

- Tomorrow and Thursday, enjoy 20% off Spring and Summer merchandise at M Boutique. Denim will be 10% off.
